Meen Peera

Fish-3
Kudam Puli- 3
Grated Coconut – 1 cup
Ginger-Garlic paste -1 tsp
Green chillies – 3 or 4
Sliced Shallots -3
Turmeric powder -a pinch
salt – to taste
Mustard Seeds -a few
Curry leaves – a few
Oil – as needed




Dip kudampuli in warm water and keep aside.Mix together grated coconut,ginger-garlic paste,shallots,green chillies,turmeric powder,kokum pieces and salt with hand.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds into it.Allow it to splutter.Add the grated coconut mixture and curry leaves into it.Saute well for a while.Finally add the fish pieces and mix it together.
Close the lid and simmer until the fish is cooked well.

Tilapia Fry


Tilapia is a fresh water fish.Tilapia is a low saturated fat, low calorie, low carbohydrate and low sodium protein source. It is a source of phosphorus, niacin, selenium, vitamin B12 and potassium.


Tilapia fillet-2
Ginger- Garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Chilli Flakes - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek Powder - 1/4 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Sliced Onion - 1
Salt to taste
Oil for frying


Mix all the powders and salt and adding a little water make a paste with it.Apply the paste to the fish and refrigerate it for atleast 2-3 hours.TThen deep fry or shallow fry or you can bake or grill  it as per your choice!!!!!
If You are baking it , Preheat the oven to 400 degree F
Line a baking tray with an aluminium foil and spray lightly with cooking spray or brush with some olive oil
Arrange the fish in a single layer an inch apart and Bake it for 15 minutes .
Take it out , and baste both sides with the thin paste and bake again for 15-20 minutes.( for really crispy broil for 2-3 minutes)
If you are grilling it , Heat the grill as per its  directions  and place the fish on the hot grill and grill for 12 minutes on each side.
Heat oil in a pan and add sliced onion and saute for 5-6 minutes. Add a large pinch or 1/4 tea spoon of red chilli powder and switch off the flame. Fry in the hot pan for 2-3 minutes and the remove.

Fish And Mango

Fish – 500 kg
Mango(medium) – 2
Coconut – 1 no
Onion – 3 nos
(sliced lengthwise)
Ginger – 1 tbsp(cut lengthwise)
Garlic – 1tbsp(cut length wise)
Green chillies – 6 pieces(cut lengthwise)
Coriander powder – 4 tbsp
Red chilly powder – 1 ½ tbsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Curry leaves – 3 stems
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Shallots(Kunjulli) – 10 nos
Red chillies – 3 nos
Salt – As reqd




Peel off the skin of the mangoes and cut them into finger size shapes.Take a cooking pan and add sliced onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves. Add salt and vinegar.Mix the contents with your hand.Mix together coriander powder, red chilly powder, turmeric powder in a bowl.Put some oil into your hand and mix them well together.Grind the coconut with ½ litre of water to make natural coconut milk.Pour this coconut milk into a bowl.Take a pan and add the mangoes along with water so that the mangoes sink in the water.Add onion mixture along with the powder mixture into the above pan and start heating on a medium flame.When it gets hot, slip in fishes.Check the level of salt and close the lid after leveling the fish.After 10 mins, check if the mangoes are cooked. Add the coconut milk.Check the level of salt once again.Heat oil in a small frying pan.Add mustard seeds and when they crackle, add small onions followed by dry red chillies and curry leaves.Add the above tempering into the pan. Serve Fish Curry hot with rice.



Fish Masala

Fish - 500 gm
Shallot(Kunjulli) - 6 - 8 nos
Garlic pod - 1 no
Ginger - 2" piece
Green chillies - 3 - 4 nos
Onions(chopped) - 3 nos
Tomato(chopped) - 2 nos
Red chilly powder - 2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1 tsp
Fenugreek(Uluva) - 4 - 5 nos
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - A few
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp(chopped)
Tamarind(Puli) pulp - 1 tbsp
Salt - As reqd
Oil - As reqd





Marinate the fish pieces with a pinch of turmeric, salt and red chilly powder.
Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
Add small onions, garlic, ginger and green chillies and saute, till they turn brown. Keep it aside.
Heat up the same pan.
Add red chilly powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, fenugreek, garam masala powder and turmeric powder and fry, till the raw smell leaves.
Grind both the mixtures together.
Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
Add curry leaves and onions and saute, till the onions turn brown.
Add the ground masala and mix well for a minute.
Add tomatoes and salt and mix, till it becomes a paste.
Add the fish pieces.
Add the coriander leaves.
Cover the pan and let it simmer, till the oil comes on top. It takes about 5 - 10 mins.

Remove from flame and serve it hot with rice.

Fish Molly




Fish(i used was Tilapia) - 1/2 kg
Onions(medium) - 2 nos(sliced)
Green chillies(slit) - 6 nos
Ginger - 2 inch piece(chopped)
Garlic pods - 4 nos(chopped)
Curry leaves - 10 - 12 nos
Thin coocnut milk - 1 1/2 cups
Thick coconut milk - 3/4 cup
Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Corriander powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder(Jeerakam) - 1/2 tsp
Salt - As reqd
Oil- 3 tbsp


Fish Fry

Chillipowder          1tsp
Coriander pdr        2tbsp
Chopped chilles     1tsp
Ginger garlic paste 2tbsp
Turmeric                1pinch
Coriander leaves     Few springs
Curry leaves           Few springs
Pepper pdr            1tsp
Cumin seeds:         1tsp (optional)
Fish piece              10
Oil :                       4 tbsp










Marinate fish with all the ingredients in two tbsp of oil.
and cook on medium heat both the sides .
